1. Is this an LDS Troop?
- No. Troop 54 was chartered to the Mesa Lehi 1st Ward until Dec. 31, 2019. It is now chartered by the Sertoma Club of Mesa.
2. Are only LDS youth involved?
- No. All youth, regardless of faith are welcome. Most of the leaders and youth are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) but it is not a requirement or expectation.
3. Will this unit be camping on Sundays?
-No. All campouts, except, possibly, those involving summer travel, will be completed by Saturday evening.
4. Uniforming - we believe the Scout uniform is a universal symbol of scouting and brings together all Scouts, current and former, with a common thread.
We have an extensive uniform bank, and expect all Scouts to have a full uniform (Field, or Class A, uniform) which consists of a shirt, with correct patches, pants, and belt. We also have a Troop t-shirt that can be worn as part of the Activity, or Class B, uniform.
5. What are the costs?
6. The Troop will be doing fundraisers to help offset costs. In addition to any patrol fund raising activities, the Troop has a U.S. Flag program, that sets out flags at various retirement communities and civic events on specific dates. Funds from the flag activities are shared among those that participate.
